3 Parachute BN Call up
The Citizen has been running a daily add in the newspaper calling on all ex SADF parabats to join 3 Parachute BN and i quote ….
” The SANDF’s 3 Parachute Battalion, is gearing itself up once again to a fully operational footing / combat ready status. This will include participation in combined all-Arms exercises.
3 Parachute Battalion, formed in 1977, is not only the youngest Reserve Force combat unit still in existence, it is one of the Army’s most decorated - Twelve of its members, past and present, are holders of the Honoris Crux Decoration, the South African equivalent of Britain’s Victoria Cross and the US Medal of Honor. The Battalion had an exemplary service record during the border and Angolan conflict, and it continues with the same level of professionalism and dedication under the new SANDF …. ”
