I would like to know if your brigade was named after 44 Parahute Brigade (TA) based in Chelsea, UK? Whilst I was based at Chelsea no one ever mentioned an association with similarly named SA brigade.

Any new sites or info relating to ex Paratroopers from 1 Para Bat
I was intake Jan'84-Dec'85. Unfortunately, I was involved in a motorcycle accident just prior to PT course (sustained a R-broken leg). However, my brother William Le Hanie did get his wings for the same intake. He had proudly announced to all his friends and foes that the knew for a fact that I would have made the PT and Jump course (thanks William)... Fate has its own story though... I did continue boxing for Sector 20, and served my last 18 months in assisting the Recce's (Rundu/Caprivi)obo Chief Staff Intelligence. Our Colonel to be was Jack Snyman (what a great guy!) Cmdt Wouter Hugo (Parabat) selected me during June 1984. During the years I'd wished to had completed both - as I'd always treasure to be associated with the 'Best'. Though, in my heart I'll always be my very own 'Parabat'. However, I gave the 'Bully' in our Platoon 3 a hiding for having had messed with me before my accident-misfortune. Our Corporal Rautenbach.
